Plant Electrical Engineer
The Plant Electrical Engineer will perform a variety of engineering work in designing, planning and overseeing manufacture, construction, installation, operation and maintenance of plant equipment.
Duties:
- Coordinate custom equipment installations, support maintenance, and provide documentation and review their activities to ensure compliance with code requirements.
- Troubleshoot equipment as required, supervise critical repairs or replacements, preventative maintenance, and provide plans to increase equipment reliability.
- Utilize AutoCAD software to help create, update, maintain, and translate electrical drawings.
- Design, update, and improve upon existing and outdated electrical equipment and components.
- Inspect completed installations, observe operations, and ensure conformance to intended design specifications.
- Assist in reviewing new and existing equipment to ensure compliance with OSHA standards.
- Help prepare purchase specifications for components, materials, and equipment.
- Observe and mentor Maintenance team members as necessary.
- Investigate and review new vendor products and assist in prototyping new technology into our current plant methodology.
- Assist in the development of capital projects for the purchase of new equipment, enhancement of existing equipment and major repairs to existing assets.
- Make concerted efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
- Compile data and potential engineering changes to enhance the efficiency, throughput, and manpower requirements of existing equipment.
Competency:
- Preferred education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, with a minimum of five (5) years “hands on” experience in maintenance/plant electrical engineering in a manufacturing environment.
- In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, a minimum two (2) year associate’s degree with at least 5-8 MS Office software and MS Excel in a functional level.
- Proficient in PLC programming & troubleshooting (Omron & A/B).
- Pro-face & A/B HMI programming.
- Relay logic & machine troubleshooting.
- Proficient with A.C. and D.C. motors and controls of various voltages.
- Hydraulics and Pneumatics are required. Steam systems would be a plus.
- Proficient at reading and developing electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic schematics along with P&ID’s.
- Sharp attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities / multitask.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- May be required to travel internationally on occasion.
- Ability to read, write, & speak Japanese would be a plus, but not required for the position.
Working Conditions:
- The physical environment requires associate to walk through a high traffic production area and warehouse to get to/from office that is located within the warehouse.
- Frequently required to use personal protective equipment (safety shoes and safety glasses).
